Have you ever wondered what all these stats that OMJ uses on this site even mean? Or why OMJ includes them? Or why he creates his own? Well\u2026 OMJ is obsessed with statistics and is constantly trying to quantify a Grinder\u2019s performance and value. Plus – they\u2019re fun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

GAPE + ((%GAPE-%FGA)*2.63)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measures the approximate value, out of $50, a Grinder has to their team. Take too many shots, miss most of them? You aren\u2019t as valuable to your team as you think. Essentially $$ = GAPE, modified by the difference of %GAPE and %FGA. More GAPE, less shooting is a bonus. More shooting, less GAPE is a detriment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

%FGA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formula: FGA\/Team FGA<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Represents the percentage of a team shots taken. Formerly known as \u201cWhat\u2019s A Pass\u201d or \u201cWAP\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

%GAPE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formula: GAPE\/Team GAPE<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Represents the percentage of a team\u2019s GAPE a player had. Formerly known as \u201cHero%\u201d. Essentially – the team\u2019s biggest contributor of positive things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

%REB<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Total Rebounds\/(Team Rebounds For + Team Rebounds Against)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measures the amount of available rebounds a player had. This shows how dominant a player is rebounding differently than Rebounds Per Game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/FGM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3s Made\/Field Goals Made<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measures the percentage of shots made that were 3-pointers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

A\/T<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assists\/Turnovers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Measures how careful, or careless, a player is with the ball. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

AB%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air Balls\/Field Goals Attempted<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air Balls are fun. They cost $1. The fans love them. They are essentially a turnover. That\u2019s it – this measures the percentage of shots that miss everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

AST%<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assists\/Team Field Goals Made<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This measures the percentage of a team\u2019s shots made that a player assisted on. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n

FG\/100<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formula: (FGM+Assists)\/(FGA+Assists+Turnovers)*100<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Estimates how many field goals made a player would have or would have contributed to for every 100 times they shot or assisted\/turned over. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Game Score<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Formula: (EFG%\/.50+Points\/20+Rebounds\/10+(AST+Stl+Blk-TOV-AB)\/10)\/4<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compares a player\u2019s overall performance to the \u201cperfect\u201d Grinder game. Perfect Stat Line below. 100 = Great game. Over 100 = Superior Game. 30 = not great.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    GAPE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Points-Field Goals Missed+Rebounds+Assists+Steals+Blocks-Turnovers-Air Balls<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    GAPE is essentially PER. It measures how efficient a player is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    GAPE2<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Assists+Steals+Blocks-Turnovers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    GAPE2 is for the little guys in the league who can\u2019t rebound like their taller peers. Measures everything except scoring and rebounding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n\n\n\n

    Usage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    (Assists+Field Goals Made+Air Balls+Turnovers)\/(Team Field Goals Made+Team Airballs+Team Turnovers)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    This measures, approximately, the percentage of offensive possessions the player had involvement in ending. Meaning – they facilitated the final play of each offensive possession in one form or another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
