Recap
You know how sometimes in basketball you get those moments where it looks like no one on either team knows how to actually play the sport? Like, just diving around, losing the ball every 5 seconds, throwing up layups that hit the bottom of the backboard? Outside of a few cool Tommy moments and Tall Justin, that’s pretty much what this was for 40 minutes. Captain Matt Ripken played his usual game – grabbing emphatic rebounds, getting a couple of vicious blocks, and a lot of blown layups and balls dribbled off the foot and out of bounds. Matt did his best Gunnar Henderson impression by being absolutely useless on offense. Tommy took 30 shots and ended up with a solid 27 points and 21 GAPE, per usual. “HOF” E took advantage of some lackadaisical defense for some tough layups, and their sub who I don’t even remember contributed nicely with a 0 GAPE. For a team that had their sights on a first round bye next week… yikes! Here’s hoping Tommy can continue to carry going into the playoffs. Side note: I miss Boccio.
As for our beloved City Jizz Rags, uhh thank goodness for Tall Justin. I thought Tommy was doing a lot of carrying but wow. Justin had 34 more GAPE points than the other Justin, who had a total of 2! Impressive stuff. The superior Justin turned in a 23 point 16 rebound performance, and made his presence known on defense with 3 steals and 5 blocks. Small Justin shot 4/15 from the field, but also somehow had a block. Week 1 legend Newberry continued his fall back to this solar system offensively, but mustered a nice 14 GAPE with a stat in every category. I also forget who the sub was for the Jizz Boys but they went 3/22?? (Never mind now I remember. LOL).
