Recap
Who came up with this long-ass name? I hate it. I also kind of hate how the Chucklers minus-Chuck won this game despite being lousy for the first 39 minutes. Mike Malacki improved on Week 1’s 0/200 performance by making 2 whole shots this time around. His 11.8% shooting brought him up to 5.3% on the season – that is so unbelievably poor. At what point do you start to feel bad for the guy? At least Malicki is contributing elsewhere – 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 blocks, along with the tough game winning bucket. Eventually the shots will start to fall though – as was said last week, there’s always next week! The rest of the Chuckwads played an acceptable game: Jeff May had a team-high 20 points on over 50% shooting, along with 2 steals and 2 blocks to halfway make up for his 7 turnovers. Youngling Peyton made 5 of his first 6 shots before crumbling to an 0/7 finish, and also added 2 blocks on the much, much smaller Jon Tirado. Mike Salvati may have been the unsung hero, scoring 10 points on 5/8 shooting, while also tallying 9 (!!) rebounds and 3 steals. It took a complete 3/4ths team effort to survive the shooting frenzy of Bang Bang, who failed to have a Grinder shoot over 30% from the field. Captain Jon’s 12 points came solely off of three-pointers, which is impressive if you ignore the 19 other missed heaves. Curt scored 23 points on 38 shots, clearly failing to realize he is no longer the captain of the team. Matt Vaillancourt exerted his prowess in the rebounding department, grabbing 17 boards. Truth be told, 15 of them were instances where Jeff May decided to catch his breath rather than box out … Matt also had 6 assists, in which he obnoxiously yelled “That’s an assist!” to the stat keepers every. single. time. Nixon and Lil Josh combined for a -1 GAPE. Sloppy game, but a close one!
