Pre-game: Would a team full of new guys, under the tutelage of Smurf-season champion captain Mike “Worm” Benjamin, be able to gel quickly and compete VS some of Grinders existing elite

The game log Welllllllllllllllll the answer to that question, at least for week 1, is a big hell to the naw. This game was only close for about the first 12-14 minutes and then it slowly and methodically got out of hand. Big Worm led the boys from Alaska in shot attempts (19) and points (8) to which he, himself said, is not a recipe for success. The 24 points his team scored may be a Grinders record in futility. New guy “Glasses” Joe looked powerful and polished in the post early, beating up on a skinny, almost frail-looking Gersitz. Maybe Joe wore down or Gersitz caught on ”cause that wasn”t seen again for the duration. Rumor has it that new guy Mike “D1” Boccio was a big deal in other sporting arenas. Welcome to Grinders. Your present? Chase Crazy Al and Doyle for 40 minutes. Someone needs to work on their b-ball cardio. Boccio did chip in with 11 rebounds and 5 steals, looking very Rodman-esque. Pauly P led his team in GAPE (10) and rebounds (13) while having 3 steals. This team is going to have to work on their offense a ton because it was down right offensive. Try a practice.

Ho-hum. Another game for Gersitz, another win. It must get boring at times for “Big G.”. Actually I know it does as evidenced by his lackluster effort. Dude coulda been on a hammock dreaming about Olivia Munn and his wet dream would have made a bigger splash. 8 and 10 for this Grinder is hideous. Maybe he”ll choose to go to work in week 2. Crazy Al though, did show up, leading his team in points (19) and FG% (42.1). The captain may not be loud but he definitely leads by example and effort (Mike G. take note). Richie “Coat-tails” Creamer slots in perfectly on this team as their number 4. He had a 14/9/5/5 stat line and led his team in GAPE……though no one really noticed. Mark “O”Doyle Rules” helped the cause with excellent effort and chipped in 12 and 5 (with a broken finger). Corey “Oklahoma Drill” Muldowney dominated the paint leading his team with 11 rebounds and was second to Creamer in GAPE.

This game could have been MUCH WORSE if the Brain Dead No Names had treated this like an actual game instead of a morning walk-through. Look out when they actually come to play. It”s like someone assembled a track team.

Post-game: It was great to see Pauly P back in action. For those of you that don”t know, P used to be one of the league”s best on ball defenders. Word to the wise, don”t try the crossover. It”s also great to see the influx of new people to Grinders and Eldridge. Keep it growin”. Crazy Al had been a Suck Bucket of GAPE for awhile since his return to Grinders. His shooting percentage was about as good as Curt”s win percentage in the playoffs. It was good to see Grinders” all-time leading scorer get back to the level we”re used to.
