Recap
Speaking of boring blowouts … Actually, one could argue that this wasn’t a complete sleeper – I could see how you could find enjoyment in watching a team shoot nearly the same amount of airballs as field goals made. 6 of those airballs came from team captain Worm. His airball percentage was twice as high as his FGM percentage. That’s hilarious! Mike Ford, who despite being the last pick still found a way to be grossly overpaid, made a few nice shots over Cole and then packed it in for the night, reverting to his backboard-assaulting ways. Is this what “going to work” looks like? If so, then Mike Boccio also went to work as he joined in on the backboard beating to the tune of a 1/10 shooting effort and 6 turnovers. New Joe had the second-best shooting night for the Eskimo Brothers, and that is all I will say about that.
If the “Long Con” was to make us all think that this team would be very bad, and then have it be pretty good, well, consider me conned. Top dogs Cole and Jimmy Z led the way, scoring GAPEs of 23 and 24, respectively. Cole felt bad for the team of newbies and only shot 7 times, but he grabbed 13 boards, 7 assists, and 4 steals. Jimmy was on one, scoring 22 points on 61% shooting. Captain Eric “E” Boerdner wasn’t far behind, with 18 points of his own, 12 of them coming from behind the arc. If you watched Old Man Jon’s body language throughout this drubbing, you would think he had a Worm-sequence performance. He scored the most angry 8 points you’ll ever see, and he didn’t even have the worst self-created Suck Score (he tied with Cole and E). Helmet was above-average, logging an assist and 2 electric steals. They have an interesting matchup this week against Bang Bang, where Captain E will look to get revenge on half of his former team who came up just short last session. I’m sure tensions will be high when Conway and the Machines are up 20 at halftime … I’m pulling for a hack fest!’
